Steven Tannason
Born in Jakarta 18 years ago, Steven Tannason is now studying Media and Communications at Melbourne University.
He has two brothers who are studying in Jakarta. They are hoping to come to Melbourne to study and enjoyed their stay here last spring.
He likes to read, watch and write. He likes to read magazines too, such as Time, Newsweek and Reader’s Digest. Furthermore, he likes to travel and his favourite place so far is Shanghai.
He genuinely enjoys studying in Melbourne, and his favourite place in town is Max Brenner. What he likes most about Melbourne is its diversity and vibrancy. He admits enjoying going to the festivals, such as Moomba Festival and Royal Melbourne Show.
Amidst his studying, he is now one of the activities officers of Melbourne University Overseas Students Service. His experiences in the field of Media and Communications include interning at Meld Magazine and The Jakarta Post. He hopes to get more experiences interning at media and communications corporations in the future, such as advertising agency, public relations firm and magazine company.
He first picked up a copy of The Insider during his orientation week and found it handy and useful. Then in 2010, while he was searching for writing opportunities, he came across The Insider website and yearned to contribute to the publication.
By contributing to The Insider, he hopes to help the international student community to adapt to Melbourne. Moreover, he thinks The Insider is a great publication and needs to be supported by the local and international student communities in Australia.
He thinks international students should make the most of their stay in Melbourne, especially because Melbourne has plenty to offer, such as the museums and theatres.
He hopes to be qualified for the honours at Melbourne University, study MBA and study Chinese language in Beijing or Shanghai.
